BIELMEIER | CONSULTING
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING & DESIGN
ABOUT
BIELMEIER | CONSULTING is lead by Christie Bielmeier, PhD, a Boston-based engineer with two decades of experience design, building and testing mechanical devices, composite systems and textile structures. Bielmeier has designed small, lightweight mechanisms for drone and unmanned air systems (UAS) for NASA, NRL, Aurora Flight Sciences, Physical Sciences Inc., PinnaclX and Ascent Aerospace. These UAS and ground stations are used for powerline inspection to maintain the Northeast power grid for Eversource and provide battlefield intelligence for soldiers in Afghanistan. She specializes in bio-inspired designs that are intrinsically low-power, low-mass, and easy to use.
Throughout her career, Christie has used finite element analysis (FEA) to analyze composite and fabric aero-structures for NASA’s Helios Pathfinder Plus, Hubble Space Telescope, and Mars Flyer. Her dissertation developed a micro-FEA and quasi-static fabric puncture test (Micro-PPT) to measure a fabric’s resistance to mosquito bites for the development of personal protection equipment (PPE) and military uniforms. Currently, Christie is working to establish the Micro-PPT as a standard for rapid testing of chemical-free insect resistant fabrics to be used in next-generation breathable PPE. Furthermore, she develops innovative wearables and slash-resistant athletic garments for skiing and skating.
Currently, Christie is a senior Lecturer at Boston University where she teaches product design and development. Also, she is an engineering consulting for Boston-based companies and CTO of Lil Buggers that makes chemical-free, insect resistant clothing for kids. She enjoys bringing her start-up and industry experience into the classroom. Christie is an avid skier, hiker, biker, and Buffalo Bills fan.

Founder & Chief Engineer
BIELMEIER excels at designing, building, testing, and managing prototype systems for low-volume fabrication. BIELMEIER excels at creating designs that are ergonomic, functional, and "good-looking." Our designs can be quickly fabricated using rapid-prototyping techniques and easily transitioned to injection molding volumes
BIELMEIER | CONSULTING is available for any size project and can work onsite or remotely. BIELMEIER can provide Solidworks CAD package or use provided package. BIELMEIER has a network of engineers, designers, writers, and coders in the Boston area. BIELMEIER can provide images and graphical content as well as written documentation. BIELMEIER has experience writing winning funding proposals, magazine articles & press releases for several companies.
Christie Marie Bielmeier, Ph.D., Chief Mechanical Engineer
Christie Bielmeier is a mechanical engineer with 20 years of industry experience designing UAVs, space robotics, and sensors for NASA, NRL, Aurora Flight Sciences, and PinnaclX. Bielmeier’s cutting-edge research uses finite element analysis (FEA) to analyze composite aero-structures for NASA’s Helios Pathfinder, Hubble Space Telescope, and Mars Flyer. Her surveillance UAVs maintain the Northeast power grid for Eversource and provide battlefield intelligence for soldiers in Afghanistan. Her dissertation measured the bite resistance of fabrics for the development of non-toxic military uniforms. Currently, Christie is a senior Lecturer at Boston University teaching product design.
